About Our Founder

the founder's photographOur founder and namesake, born in Kuwait and educated in the United States, has served the healthcare community for over 13 years and is not only fluent in the Arabic language and culture, but also has worked closely with healthcare professionals in the United States.

The company draws upon both her professional and personal experiences in the United States and applies her insightful knowledge of the unique integration of these two cultures to deliver the very best services to our clients. 

Ms. Ghabayen has lived her life by facing challenges head-on and creating solutions to problems that others might see as unsurmountable.  Born in Kuwait, Ms. Ghabayen immigrated to the United States with her family after watching the Gulf War unfold firsthand.  Once in the United States, she faced another hurdle: she could not speak English.  With great determination, Ms. Ghabayen taught herself English, and was able to graduate high school in three years.

Ms. Ghabayen went to the University of Illinois at Chicago; she took extensive coursework as a Pre-Med student, while she maintained a rigorous schedule of school, work and volunteering.  Through her volunteering, she discovered her love for interpreting for fellow Arabic speaking patients, enabling them to have access to services they otherwise would not.

During this time, she also began working as a freelance interpreter and translator from and to English and Arabic language; eventually she became an interpreter trainer herself.  As a trainer, she manages the 60+ hours of intensive training required for all new interpreters, conducts continuing-education workshops, and helps professionals become more culturally aware of the Middle East.  She also is hired to help families from the Middle East navigate the United States' medical system.  Her relationship with healthcare professionals and her clients give her a keen insight to communicate as both patient and doctor advocate.

Fast forward to today, Ms. Ghabayen established Deya Consulting Services, Inc (DCS).  At DCS, she uses her knowledge and passion to help people navigate through their lives: whether that's through interpreting, translation or assisting them with their business, personal, or medical tourism needs; she is a cultural broker for the the Western world and the Middle East. 
 
Ms. Ghabayan is a member of the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC), a member of the International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA), and a member of the American Translators Association (ATA).

Through experience, knowledge and communication, Ms. Ghabayan hopes to serve the needs of her Middle Eastern clients, and her clients who are growing in their understanding of the Middle Eastern world.
